QANTAS CHIEF ATTACKS UNION ACTIONS

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has responded furiously to the focused labour campaign being organized by the unions representing the airline’s engineers, pilots and baggage handlers. In a speech to the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ luncheon in Sydney on Tuesday, Joyce said that he did not understand why the company was being singled out as Qantas has one of the lowest staff turnover rates and long service records in Australia. In an interview with ATW, Joyce described the union as “kamikaze” and that he found it “bizarre that Qantas is being singled out as jobs at Qantas have been historically secure”.
