QANTAS AVOIDS CHILEAN ASH CLOUD

Qantas has taken the decision not to fly under or near the Chilean volcanic ash cloud.  “At Qantas safety is our first priority and a number of flights have been canceled or rerouted to avoid the volcanic ash cloud.” However, competitors Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia and Cathay Pacific Airways are continuing to fly around the ash cloud and are being guided by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority advice on the matter.
