China Eastern Airlines first-half profit has fallen by 65% due to falling passenger demand, higher fuel prices and foreign exchange losses. The company reported a fall in profits to 806.9 million yuan ($A123 million) or 0.07 yuan per share. In 2011, profit was 2.3 billion yuan or 0.2 yuan per share. Although revenue rose by 5%, costs, including fuel, soared by 10%.
