The National Workers’ Union (NWU) has warned regional airline, LIAT, it will not support plans to shut down the city office of the airline, claiming there was no “no justification” for the move as operations in St Lucia had been profitable. It warned it would shut down LIAT in St Lucia “to make our point, we will do it.” LIAT is planning to lay off 100 of its 900 workers across the Caribbean after posting a US$5.5 million loss on its over the previous year. The airline serves 22 destinations in the Caribbean.
