Panama’s Copa Airlines has confirmed it is not considering combining with competitors after Lan Airlines and Tam agreed to create the biggest airline in Latin America. “We don’t feel pressure to have to run and merge with anybody,” said Victor Vial, chief financial officer. He said that the newly merger airline will not pose a threat to Copa Airlines, which is seeking to increase capacity by 20% this year as it adds new flights and routes in Canada and Latin America.
