Mega Maldives make redundancies

Mega Maldives has announced 65 redundancies due to the decline in Chinese tourists to the archipelago. Traffic to the Maldives from Chinese tourists has declined by 11% from the start of the year to June. Due to the decline in total revenue, the airline is also holding filling 50 positions as well as the redundancies. Mega Maldives bottom line has been impacted by the delay in the diversification of its routes to South Africa, India, Thailand and Europe.
