March on time performance for US carriers dip slightly

Despite predictions that sequestration would lead to longer waiting times at US airports, airline on-time performance dipped only slightly during March. According to FlightStats, North American airlines, on average, delivered 79.04% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule in March. The group’s cancellations decreased to 1.81%.

North America’s top ten performing airlines and their on-time percentages in March were:
1 (QX) Horizon 90.50%
2 (HA) Hawaiian 89.63%
3 (5D) Aeroméxico Connect 89.02%
4 (VX) Virgin America 87.25%
5 (CP) Compass 86.45%
6 (AS) Alaska 85.64%
7 (DL) Delta 84.55%
8 (YV) Mesa 83.93%
9 (JIA) PSA 83.19%
10 (US) US Airways 82.26%

Alaska led the majors again in March with 85.64% on-time performance. Here’s how the North American major carriers on-time arrival percentages compared:

5 (UA) United 80.54%
