Lufthansa executives expect pilot walkouts to continue since management are determined not to make “any compromises that endanger our future viability”. In an unusual step, the airline’s cabin crew union, UFO, has offered to assist in ending the dispute. “It can’t go on like this,” the UFO wrote in a statement, adding that the company and pilots are “holding all employees hostage” in their conflict over pensions, which ought to be solved through mediation including representatives of cabin and ground staff. Lufthansa’s management board is meeting today for further discussions.
