A one-day strike by ground staff has caused German airline Lufthansa to cancel the majority of its flights today. Only 32 out of 1,700 flights will run as planned today. Flights to and from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin, Aberdeen and Edinburgh to German airports of Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf and Hamburg have been affected. Lufthansa says the strike is “out of proportion” since “four further dates for pay talks had already been agreed upon”. Last week, Lufthansa rejected union demands for a 5.2% wage increase over the next 12 months.
