LOT seeks Boeing cash

Polish airline LOT is due to file its recovery plan but it does not yet know when the 787 will resume flights and much of its hoped for return to profit depends on cutting operating costs and attracting more long-haul passengers with the use of its fleet of 20 new 787s. LOT has only taken delivery of two 787s so far but has been unable to use them since the aircraft type was grounded, which is costing $50,000 every day.
The airline intends to cut the workforce and reduce to fleet to 25 aircraft – the 77 forming the bulk – from 40.
Critics are stating that the airline’s plan may work if they get compensation from Boeing for the 787 delays.
