Polish LOT Airlines has secured a $500 million loan guaranteed by the US Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) which will finance its fleet of eight 787 aircraft it has on order. LOT took delivery of its first 787 aircraft on Friday November 9. Apple Bank for Savings of New York extended the loan. Nippon Export and Investment Insurance of Japan is co-financing the transaction. LOT will be the first European airline to operate the Dreamliner, and it was also the first European airline to operate the Boeing 767.
