LATAM TRAFFIC UP

Latin American airlines carried 11% more passengers in 2010 than in 2009, as domestic and international traffic grew, the Latin American Air Transport Association, or ALTA, said in a press release yesterday. Traffic at ALTA’s member airlines reached 136.4 million passengers in 2010, the association said. Load factors averaged 73.3%, up 3.2% on 2009. Domestic passenger traffic rose 13% last year to 94.2 million. International traffic within Latin America increased 12% to 28 million passengers, while international traffic to countries outside the region edged 0.1% higher to 14.1 million.
