Kingfisher at risk of losing slots and licence

Kingfisher Airlines is at risk of losing departure slots across the country due to the reduction in its fleet size. If the airline does not use its allocated slots during the winter period, the regulator has indicated that it will consider giving the carrier’s slots to other airlines.

In 2011 Kingfisher Airlines had 66 aircraft operating 374 flights a day covering 60 domestic and eight international destinations but unconfirmed reports says that the airline has just one ATR aircraft and six Airbus aircraft flying than 100 flights a day, against a promised network of 20 planes and 120 flights a day.

The airline must submit is final winter schedule next month, which is when the civil aviation ministry will make a decision on whether to take away slots or indeed revoke its license altogether if it’s fleet falls below 5 aircraft.
