Kenya Airways reviews flights to West Africa amid ongoing Ebola outbreak

Kenya Airways has responded to calls within the Kenyan government to suspend flights to West Africa over the Ebola outbreak, by instigating a series of risk assessments in advance of a decision on suspension.

The government’s call for suspension of flights came after the World Health Organization’s recent announcement declaring Kenya a high risk country because of its continuation of flights to West Africa.

WHO has added Kenya to the Level 2 countries on their list for Ebola risk, with the directly-affected countries (Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and Nigeria) on a Level 1 alert.

The Kenya Airport Authority, Kenya Airways and the Ministry of Health have instigated measures to screen all passengers arriving on flights directly from the affected countries.
