Private Greek airline Viking Hellas is forming a new joint venture with a German-Iraqi group for an Iraqi-based domestic airline called Viking Middle East. The new airline will fly routes from Baghdad to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq. “By investing in this new joint venture, Viking Hellas has reduced its financial risk and strengthened its commercial position in Iraq,” said Roger Gatt, CEO of Viking. Viking Hellas currently flies between Athens to Erbil, Baghdad and Sulaymaniyah.
