JET2 NEW ROUTES CREATE JOBS AT NEWCASTLE AIRPORT

Jet 2 plans five new routes from Newcastle airport, which will require a new aircraft to be based at airport that will create some 118 new airport-based staff, cabin crew and pilots.

The five new routes from Newcastle include Alicante, the Algarve, Toulouse, Krakow and Prague.

“We see Newcastle Airport as a really key location for us, hence we are introducing another aircraft, to operate additional destinations and increased flight frequency,” says Philip Meeson, CEO of Jet2.com and parent company Dart Group. “Customer feedback shows there are additional routes and services the people of the North East want, and we have factored those into our plans.”

Dart Group pre-tax profits for the half year ending on 30 September 2010 rose 38% on last year, to £38.7 million.
