Icelandair engineers have announced plans for industrial action. The Icelandic Aircraft Mechanics Association (FVFI) said it would strike for 24 hours on June 16th, followed by an indefinite strike June 19. The dispute is over pay. Icelandair CFO Bogi Nils Bogason said that if the strike goes ahead, “it will affect the schedule a lot, but not necessarily lead to a complete shutdown of the airline’s operations.” Bogason also added that Icelandair would not lease aircraft to deal with the initial 24-hour strike. He did not comment on whether leasing-in is a possibility if the longer strike goes ahead. Icelandair
