IATA reports global traffic rose 5.9% in April

Global capacity was up 6.1% during the period to bring the industry’s load factor down 10 bps to 79.4%. Domestic passenger traffic was up 7.2% during the month, led by sizzling growth in India and China. International passenger traffic growth: Asia/Pacific +9%, Europe +3.7%, North America +0.7%, Africa -3.2%, Middle East +8.2%, Latin America +6.3%. IATA issues a “mixed” outlook for the summer season with the strong U.S. dollar viewed as a headwind.
