IAG reports July results

International Airlines Group – holding company of British Airways, Iberia and Vueling – reports that its passenger traffic rose 7.1% during July compared to a year earlier, but passenger load factor dropped 1.7% during the month to 82.6% from 84.3% in July 2013.

In a statement, IAG attributed the decline in load factor to a capacity increase, in which available seat kilometres rose by 9.2% to 23.49 billion from 21.51 billion a year earlier.
IAG said the increase in passenger numbers carried during July was driven by increases in Europe, North America and the UK, Spain and Italy. Premium traffic for July also increased by 7.6% year-on-year.

In total, the group carried a total of 7.84 million passengers in July, up 8.2% from last year’s 7.25 million passengers.
