New airline, Fly Blu Crane, plans to begin flying from Mthatha to Johannesburg from October 1. The airline is offering fares of R799, far below the current rate of more than R3000 to Johannesburg. Fly Blu Crane will initially only offer two flights a day between Mthatha and Johannesburg‚ other routes will be added to connect the former Transkei capital to other major cities. Fly Blu Crane will be providing free meals and beverages onboard a 50-seater Andrea 145 jet.
