Finland: Airline ticket prices driven down by competition

The cost of flying to foreign destinations from Finland has fallen by 24% according to data from Statistics Finland, which has been driven by intense competition from low-cost airlines. Air fares to foreign destinations have fallen by 13% in the past year alone but, due to the lack of competition, air fares for domestic flights have risen. There are some exceptions, however. The Oulu-Helsinki route is well-served by different companies.
