Tony Fernandes, founder of the AirAsia group, has called for the creation of an airline association in Malaysia to act as a platform for local players to discuss non-competing issues faced by the industry. “I think it’s timely that we form an association. We are competitors but in issues like the new Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) charges, we should be united. “Currently, there is no association which involves only airlines in Malaysia. There was no need for that before right? We all hated each other but now we have a common problem,” said Fernandes.
