Fastjet launches third route

African LCC fastjet has announced the launch of its third cross-border route from its home base in Tanzania, with flights to Zimbabwe set to start in August.

The airline initially started flying domestically within Tanzania, but has launched routes to Johannesburg in South Africa and Lusaka in Zambia.

Fastjet stated it will launch a twice-weekly flight from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, to Harare in Zimbawe.

Fastjet said: “Despite strong commercial and cultural ties between the two cities, there is currently no direct air link between Dar es Salaam and Harare. The port at Dar es Salaam is used extensively by Zimbabwean traders and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Zanzibar to the east of Tanzania are popular tourist destinations.”
