EUROCYPRIA TO SHUT DOWN OPERATIONS

Eurocypria, the Cypriot state-owned charter airline, is ceasing operations to eliminate competition to Cyprus Airways. A Cyprus government spokesman says the island cannot support two charter airlines.

The government has stated that it will strive to employ as many of Eurocypria’s 265 staff it can with Cyprus Airways. The surviving charter airline will also assume Eurocypria’s flight schedule from November 13.
