Ethiopian to open new route to Toronto

The Ethiopian Airlines on Monday (October 4) announced it will start a new flight to Toronto, Canada by 2011.

The airline said it had received a flight operation license from the Canadian Civil Aviation Authority, and it is set to launch flights by 2011 summer. The national flag carrier will deploy new B777-200LR aircraft on the new route. Ethiopian will receive five B777-200LRs from Boeing beginning November this year.

Ethiopian said it is also preparing to launch new flights to New York, Atlanta and Dallas. The airline has direct flight services from Addis Ababa to Washington. The airline operates B767 aircraft on the Washington route and it will replace them with the new B777s. Ethiopian has placed firm orders for 10 B787, 12 A350 -900 XWB and 10 B737-800.
