Emirates has stated it will change the routings of flights into European airspace and western portions of the Middle East to stop aircraft routing over Iraq, citing ongoing security concerns after the MH17 disaster and the recent escalation of conflict in Israel. Emirates CEO Tim Clark stated that he believed other airlines would follow suit as he called for government agencies and regulators to offer more advice about flying over conflict zones. Clark also said he had taken action because he was no longer ‘comfortable’ with aircraft flying over disputed territory in Iraq.
