easyJet almost halves net losses for H1

Easyjet said in a statement today that losses after tax stand at £47 million for the six months to the end of March 2013 from a loss of £90 million for the same period last year. Total revenue grew to £1.6 billion, up from £1.5 billion. For easyjet the summer of 2013 is key and with the UK having such dreadful weather the hopes are high that this year more than most will see good holiday travel bookings. However a drag on shares will continue to be worries over higher charges from airports in Spain and Italy, which are pushing up costs by 4%. It’s also still involved in boardroom wrangling with founder Stelios, who is trying to block the purchase of up to 200 next-generation aircraft to replace its existing fleet
