Aeroflot LCC subsidiary Dobrolyot has placed a deposit with Boeing for 16 737-800s.The order is a response to the airline’s grounding earlier this week due to the annulling of its leasing deal with AWAS after the imposition of EU sanctions on Russia. The sanctions affected Dobrolyot as it was the only Russian carrier to operate to the Crimea.Lufthansa Technik, the airline’s MRO partner, has also cancelled its deal with Dobrolyot. The Boeing order is not subject to sanctions, and the aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in 2017.
