State-owned Prague Airport and Czech Airlines (ČSA) have announced their partnership in a single, government-owned and -managed holding structure Český Aeroholding (ČA). Analysts have criticised the move as a backward step away from liberalism in the aviation sector. Some have claimed the move could contravene EU competition rules. However the airport, the airline and the finance ministry have all insisted the partnership follows regulations. Self financing ČA will be a joint-stock company that the state hopes will have an easier route to financing and have more stable results. The project is expected to be completed by 2012.
