The city of Columbia has paid $22,562 to American Airlines as part of an agreement that guaranteed revenue when it agreed to start service at Columbia Regional Airport, which it did on February 14. The payout was expected as the airline adjusts to its new market and because heavy snow hit the city on Feb. 21 and 26.
