Figures from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) show that Chinese airlines carried up to 8.25 million passengers during Chinese Lunar New Year holiday from February 18 to 24. There was a 7.8% increase in flights during the week also, with more than 60,000 flights being operated. Annually, Chinese carriers flew 7.3% more passengers year on year from 7.69 million to 8.25 million. Daily passenger numbers exceeded 1.35 million on February 23 and 24.
