China Southern flight delayed by woman throwing coins into jet engine for good luck

A China Southern flight from Shanghai to Guangzhou was delayed for five hours after an elderly passenger threw nine coins into the aircraft’s engine for good luck. One of the coins landed inside the engine of the Airbus A320 aircraft causing staff to undertake a thorough inspection of the engine. The flight was cleared and arrived at its destination more than five hours late.
