Center-South Airlines AOC suspended

Rosaviatsia, the Russian air transport agency has suspended Center-South Airlines’ air operator certificate (AOC) following an unscheduled inspection. The carrier was found to be operating too few aircraft to serve its scheduled flights. Russian law states that an airline needs at least eight aircraft if it performs scheduled flights with aircraft that can carry more than 55 passengers. Only four of Center-South’s seven aircraft fleet can carry more than 55 passengers.

It was also found that the airline did not routinely investigate causes of near-misses or communicate them to the crew. Center-South Airlines has three months to rectify the issues or face losing its AOC altogether.
