The Wall Street Journal is reporting that U.S. airlines and aviation regulators are expanding voluntary safety-reporting efforts to include data from Canadian carriers in the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing system (Asias). If agreed, Canadian carriers would submit incident reports to the system that will join extensive voluntary safety reports already being collected from U.S. pilots, cabin crews, air-traffic controllers, mechanics and other domestic sources. This will be the first time foreign data will be included into the data collection and analysis effort.
