US scheduled passenger airlines reported an after-tax net profit of $3.1 billion in the first quarter of 2015, up from $241 million in the fourth quarter of 2014 and up from $507 million in the first quarter of 2014, reports the US Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
