Jim Albaugh, chief executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, has again apologised for the three year delay to its 787 Dreamliner programme. Speaking at American Bar Association conference, he said he was “hopeful” the airlines waiting for the aircraft will “forgive us”. Technical and production issues have been the main causes of the delays but Albaugh said he hoped airlines will appreciate the aircraft’s better economics when it enters service. Launch customer All Nippon Airways will receive its first aircraft in February 2011.
