A strike by the majority of pilots working for Avianca in Colombia has been delclared illegal by a tribunal last week. The industrial action started on September 20 when the pilots walked out in protest over salary and benefit demands to match salaries in other countries, which the airline says is unreasonable. Avianca has been forced to cancel more than half of its flights on its domestic and international routes. The airline has stated that it hopes the pilot will now return to work while the pilot’s union, ACDAC, is planning to appeal the ruling.
