Stefan Lauer, supervisory board chairman of Austrian Airlines has been quoted in the local media that the airline will not reach its targets for 2011. The news was confirmed by Austrian Airlines parent Lufthansa. Austrian Airlines had been hit hard by the loss of business to the Middle East and North Africa following uprisings there, which has quashed its aims for a positive operating result in 2011. The airline is working to improve its results include a hiring ban and flight plan adjustments.
