ATCEUC considers striking on Jan 29

The Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination (ATCEUC) is now suggesting that it will strike on January 29 in protest against the European Commission’s (EC) SES2+ package that seeks to hurry the implementation of the Single European Sky (SES) initiative. The body had planned action on October 10, 2013 but subsequently called it off after given assurances that the European Commission was “willing to discuss its views on the performance scheme, regarding the lack of real safety targets and the unrealistic cost-efficiency targets”.

“ATCOs [air traffic controllers] around Europe will demonstrate their disappointment regarding EC’s method, and their disagreement on the EC proposals for the RP2 targets and SES2+ package,” the union said in a statement.
