American Airlines staff told to brace for hard times ahead

The chief executibe of AMR Corp, parent of American Airlines, Tom Horton has warned Texas employees to brace for a downsized network, pruned labor contracts and layoffs.
“We will have to make very tough and sometimes unpopular decisions that will impact people’s lives,” he wrote. “And, regrettably, we will most certainly end the process with fewer people than we have today.”
American Eagle has also warned it may have to furlough 223 Texas-based pilots and flight attendants in February because of fleet reductions.
