AirAsia X will suspend Christchurch services from the end of May 2012, the airline announced over the weekend. The airline confirmed it would cut flights between Kuala Lumpur and Christchurch as part of a change in its strategy to get out of longer-haul flights, having already deleted flights to London and Paris from its system. Christchurch International Airport (CIAL) chief executive Jim Boult said he was “bitterly disappointed” at AirAsia X’s decision to pull out of Christchurch, but understood the airline’s position.
