Air Zimbabwe cancelled several flights yesterday, including the Harare-London and Harare-Johannesburg flights, due to its failure to pay for fuel. Suppliers are reportedly owed in excess of $1.6 million were forced to stop deliveries to the airline.

Air Zimbabwe acting chief executive officer Innocent Mavhunga commented to local media that he was unaware of the flight cancellations but admitted the airline was having cashflow problems due to strike action and fuel prices.

However it was confirmed that officials at the airline’s reservations desk that the London flight from Harare was cancelled, suggest the airline is in dire straits.
