AIR NIGERIA ON COURSE TO INCRESE FLEET TO 15 AIRCRAFT

Air Nigeria, formerly Virgin Nigeria, is increasing its fleet to 15 aircraft during the first half of 2011. The airline received its 10th aircraft this week, which has seen its fleet now double in six months.

Kinfe Kahssaye, Air Nigeria’s CEO, hopes the increase in aircraft will further consolidate the airline’s leading position both in the domestic and regional market.

Kahssaye said: “We have progressively strengthened our regional and domestic route network base to support our existing hub and spoke model at the Murtala Mohamed Airport, Lagos, and our next target is to transform the airline to be the most profitable airline in West Africa by building a strong business model anchored on fast and profitable growth strategy.”

The remaining five aircraft deliveries are planned to help Air Nigeria build up its hub and spoke operation in Lagos to commence long-haul international flights.
