Air Malta chief executive Peter Davies has described Air Malta as a “crap” airline. His comments were made during a private meeting held with the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association. MHRA’s President Tony Zahra stated that Davies immediately offered an apology and that the remark was the “result of an emotional outburst typical of such meetings” but he added “such remarks are better not said”. Davies’ outburst is referred to in the UK as “doing a Ratner” because jewelry owner Gerald Ratner became famous for telling the UK’s Institute of Directors that his jewellery firm’s own products were “total crap”.
