Air India states ongoing dissatisfaction with 787 fleet

Air India has publicly stated the ongoing problems it is experiencing with its B787 fleet, which was introduced in 2012.

The airline alleges that it has experienced delays in the rectifying of problems with the 787’s airframe and software.

Indian media quoted an Air India senior engineer as saying: “I would say Boeing has solved 50% of the issues and is in the process of solving about 30%. It hasn’t identified the remaining 20%.” He added that “the technical dispatch reliability is still at 98.3% for Air India’s 787s, when it should have been more than 99%.”

Air India had previously ordered 27 B787s in 2005-06. After the first deliveries in 2012, the airline reported the aircraft were seven tonnes overweight.
