Air Costa moves to expand

In a further sign that the Indian airline sector is turning a corner, Air Costa has outlined expansion plans to offer a nationwide network by the end of October. Air Costa CEO KN Babu said that the carrier has applied to the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to upgrade its air operator’s certificate (AOC) to national carrier status and “expects to receive the green light by the end of October 2015”. The airline had previously indicated it is keen to move into long distance, low-density sectors, such as to Lucknow, Delhi and Guwahati from its home base in Vijayawada using E170 and E190 aircraft.
