Air China and Kunming Airlines sign codeshare agreement

Air China and Kunming Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement on September 3rd, 2014, and the two carriers will start a codeshare in the form of free marketing on each other’s selected domestic flights from September 15th, 2014.

According to the agreement, the two carriers will connect the city of Kunming to their respective route networks. Air China will place its “CA” code on the near-500 weekly flights on 26 routes operated by Kunming Airlines, which will extend its route network to the cities of Yunnan province and other neighboring cities. At the same time, Kunming Airlines will allocate its “KY” code on the 210 weekly flights over 9 routes operated by Air China.

Lou Yongfeng, Managing Director, International Cooperation Department, Commercial Committee, said, “Air China has always attached great importance to establishing partnerships with other carriers. It is our hope that our codeshare cooperation with Kunming Airlines will help us make the most of our synergies, further improve the networks of both sides and make it easier for passengers around the country to travel to and from Yunnan.”

Liu Rui, Kunming Airlines’ Executive Vice President, said, “Kunming Airlines is a carrier based in Yunnan. Our codeshare cooperation with Air China will not only further expand our route networks, but also help us draw upon the experiences and expertise of other domestic fine airlines, offering better services to passengers to and from Yunnan.”
