The acting general manager of Air Botswana, Agnes Khunwane, has told the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Bodies and State Enterprises that the airline had experienced a P165 millions loss as of March 2015. The main challenges facing the carrier has been equipment failure and the ensuing maintenance costs. Air Botswana operates older aircraft, which need heavy maintenance checks or have been grounded. The carrier is also hamper by an ageing IT system. Air Botswana initiated a five-year turnaround plan in March, which includes rationalising the network, reviewing internal processes and procedures, upgrading technology and aircraft.
