The Malaysian Insider, quoting unnamed sources, has suggested that the outgoing chief executive of Aer Lingus, Christoph Muller, could be joining Malaysia Airlines (MAS) after its latest restructuring. Muller announced in July that he would be leaving the Irish airline in May 2015. The newspaper reports that MAS main shareholder Khazanah Nasional had chosen Muller months ago but was unable to disclose the choice as he was not available immediately. Reports from The Star and Singapore daily The Straits Times have also commented that a foreigner was set to head MAS as CEO.
