Aer Lingus has put its search for a new chief executive on hold while it is finalizing the takeover by IAG. The takeover is far from certain however as many politicians have come out against the move saying that it will threaten jobs and Ireland’s connectivity. If IAG is successful in buying Aer Lingus, the appointment of a new chief executive will be ultimately decided by IAG chief executive Willie Walsh. His former colleague Brian Dunne, who was CFO of Aer Lingus when Walsh was CEO, has been rumoured as a potential CEO replacement for Christoph Mueller.
